Details
Description:
A beautiful vintage cast iron still penny bank. It is cast in the form of a little kitty cat with dark wide eyes. The kitty has a light blue collar which ends in a bow. The collar is a ribbon like and goes all around the kitty's neck. The kitty has large eyes with dark black colored pupils. There is light pink coloring highlighting the cat's mouth and nose outlines, which are partially faded and are difficult to see. The rest of the bank is white or cream colored with minor losses of the original paint. This is the Hubley Number 820 model and is all original. Although the head of the screw holding it together has lost its coloring, we believe it is also original. These were made in 1930s and early 1940s. See page 78 (bank 249) of Andy and Susan Moore's book "The Penny Bank Book; Collecting Still Banks" Published by Schiffer Books, of Exton, PA in 1984 for a similar example. We have opened the bank and confirmed that the inside of both halves are stamped 820 (see the last two photos). The bank has the coin slot on the back right below the head at the top edge of the collar. Please carefully review the Photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description.

Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece:
Very nice bank in excellent condition. Definitely a quality piece, it is rather heavy and weighs about 1 pound 8 ounces and is all original. It is a well made piece and would make an excellent addition to your still penny banks collection. For a similar example see page 78 in Andy and Susan Moore's Book "The Penny Bank Book; Collecting Still Banks, Published by the Schiffer Publishing Company in 1984.
Condition:
Bank is in excellent condition with no repairs or breaks. It retains most of its original paint and has minimum wear and losses. The bank is soiled with some scratches, and surface losses of the paint, but still retains most of its original paint (estimate >90%). It also shows minor signs off rust especially on the base. Be that as it may, it is in great condition and looks great. Please see photos for additional condition information.
