Apple to unveil revamped Siri with Apple Intelligence in early 2025

Last week, Apple pushed out the iOS 18 update, following the launch of its latest iPhone 16 series. While the iPhone 16 series is the first one to come with pre-installed iOS 18, Apple Intelligence is yet to arrive. Earlier, we reported that the much awaited Apple Intelligence will start to roll out in October with iOS 18.1 and all features will take the entire 2025 to come. Among these AI powered features, the revamped Siri is one of the major highlights. During WWDC 2024, the company revealed the new Siri features, making it a true personal assistant. But the timeline was still unknown until now. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman shed light on the release date of the new Siri.
According to Mark Gurman, some of the new Siri features might ship in iOS 18.3, rather than the previously expected iOS 18.4. The revamped Siri experience may arrive as early as January, aligning with Apple’s typical iOS.3 release timeline, potentially beating the usual March rollout.
Additionally, he also stated the features to come with every iOS 18 update. As a refresher, iOS 18.1 brings us our first wave of Apple Intelligence, including a light Siri refresh (new UI, faster responses), as well as Writing Tools, Photos Clean Up, and Notification Summaries. iOS 18.1 is expected to arrive in mid-October. Afterwards, iOS 18.2 is expected to bring Image Playground, Genmoji, as well as ChatGPT integration. Finally, we should be seeing the all new Siri at the start of next year.
The revamped Siri includes a fresh design featuring a glowing light that wraps around the screen edges when activated. This visual update aims to create a more engaging user experience. Beyond aesthetics, Apple has expanded Siri’s functionality with onscreen awareness, enabling it to perform actions based on the content displayed on the screen.
Apple’s Siri now features richer language-understanding capabilities, allowing it to process and respond to user commands more naturally. This improvement ensures Siri can maintain context across multiple interactions, even if users stumble over their words. Additionally, users can now type to Siri and switch seamlessly between text and voice inputs, offering more flexible ways to interact with the assistant.
Notably, Apple has partnered with OpenAI to integrate ChatGPT technology into Siri, boosting its generative AI capabilities. This integration allows Siri to handle more complex tasks and provide more sophisticated responses. Users will be able to access ChatGPT through updates to Apple’s iPhone and Mac operating systems, enhancing functionalities like text and content generation. This partnership is part of Apple’s strategy to incorporate advanced AI technologies and remain competitive in the tech landscape.
